We're delighted that Francesca's talent and hard work has been rewarded with representative honours.

Francesca has been selected for the Yorkshire u15s womens cricket squad following trials last Sunday. She is currently the only spinner in the squad, although a further 4 players will be added to the 14 already selected. Francesca has played for Thongsbridge since the age of 6, and has played at all junior age groups. She began her cricketing life as a seamer but was advised in 2012 to change to leg spin because of the way she bowled, and this proved to be successful, as she won the bowling prize for Thongsbridge u15s last season and finished 7th in the Huddersfield League averages. She has had to work very hard on developing her leg spin as it is one of the most difficult skills to perform. She is also an accomplished batter and won the batting prize for Wrenthorpe Ladies, who compete in the Yorkshire Women's Regional League.

Yorkshire u15s have a number of fixtures arranged both home and away against Derbyshire, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire and of course the main rivals, Lancashire. They also take part in a T20 competition over 2 days in May. Francesca will have her first Yorkshire practice on 15 April with the first match, against Nottinghamshire, on 1st May at Clifton CC.

In playing for Yorkshire, Francesca is following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Brian James, who played in the Yorkshire 1st team in the 1950's.
