From the league:
This year our League is extremely pleased to welcome as our Guest speakers at the Annual Dinner and Prize
Presentation, former Leicestershire & England cricketer, and current Leicestershire Head coach, PAUL NIXON, who
will be ably supported by comedian and impressionist MIKE MAGUIRE.
A wicket keeper and left handed batsman, Paul Nixon made his first-class debut with Leicestershire in 1989 winning
two Championship titles with the county in 1996 and 1998. He played for the club until 2000 when he decided to
move to Kent. He spent 2 years playing for Kent where he was part of the Pro40 title winning team, before returning
to Leicestershire in 2003. Nixon went on to captain Leicestershire between 2007 and 2008 and appeared in five T20
Finals Days for the Foxes, including the wins of 2004, 2006 and 2011. He scored 19,418 runs and claimed 1,231
dismissals for Leicestershire in 714 appearances across all three formats. In January 2007 he made his international
debut in a T20 match against Australia, and three days later he made the first of 19 ODI appearances for England.
Since his retirement from playing in August 2011, Paul has worked successfully as a coach, winning the Caribbean
Premier League twice in three attempts with Jamaica Tallawahs, and is currently Head coach of Leicestershire, a
position he has held since October 2017.
Celebrity impressionist Mike Maguire has taken the comedy circuit by storm. He has already appeared on national
television where his act has earned him rave reviews from his live audiences. Mike is vastly experienced on the live
comedy stage, firstly in the comedy clubs and more recently on the After Dinner Circuit. He is as much at home in the
Voice Over studio as he is appearing on television for Sky Sports, London Weekend, Granada and Ant & Dec’s
Saturday Night takeaway. He is such a versatile act, and is guaranteed to be a hit at almost any venue, and we look
forward to him performing at our Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation this year.
Once again we are happy to announce that the ticket price for the evening is £32.50.
